Shreveport-Bossier Photography Life-Waterworks Museum

So many times I hear comments that there isn't much to do in this area and each time I am shocked. I think the bigger issue truly isn't a lack of things to do, but maybe a lack of knowing how to find out all that is available here.

Honestly each weekend, and lots of weekdays, my family and I have to try to decide what things we want to do and bemoan the events we have to miss when we have other obligations.  This might be something I have to create a few blog posts about to be able to list all the events, event centers, concerts, museums, plays, etc. available to the local area.

This week though I want to highlight one of my favorite local museums that is SO often forgotten or overlooked, the Shreveport Water Works Museum.  I won't go into all the history as their website and their incredible tour guides can fill you in on all that.  But I want to let you know that anyone can check out this historical location for FREE, donations appreciated though.

It is a photographers dream.  I have gone there numerous times and each time I leave with something totally different than I have been able to photograph before.  There is natural light, incredible areas for macro photography, and they are more than happy to work with you if you want to plan ahead and bring in models, families, or seniors to photograph.  I was even able to do a series over a few weeks of steampunk models and brought in studio lighting to be able to capture the images I wanted.

Take the time to check out this jewel.  Shoot beautiful images and share what you create.
